New Year, New Goals!
As we leave 2021 behind, it’s the perfect time to set new goals, especially for students. Reflect on what you want to accomplish and choose three resolutions to focus on this year!
Participate More in Class
Engaging in class helps you build relationships with teachers, which is useful for recommendation letters. It also reinforces what you learn and pushes you outside your comfort zone.
Get More Organized
Without a system, it’s easy to forget assignments or deadlines. Use a planner, agenda, or calendar app to stay on top of your schedule. This will help you avoid last-minute stress!
Prioritize Your Health
Balancing school and extracurriculars can make health seem like a low priority. But taking care of yourself boosts energy and focus. Try to exercise, eat well, drink water, and get enough sleep. Even one small change makes a big difference!
Read a Book Each Month
Reading improves comprehension, writing skills, and vocabulary. It’s also a great way to relax. Choose books you enjoy—fiction or nonfiction—and aim for one per month.
Take Breaks from Social Media
While apps like TikTok and Instagram are fun, they can be overwhelming. Set limits on your usage, take social media breaks, or try a digital detox to reset and refocus.
Make Time for Self-Care
Student life is stressful. Schedule self-care activities to protect your mental health. Free, simple habits like journaling, meditating, or pursuing a hobby can help you de-stress.
Get Ahead on College Goals
It’s never too early to prepare for college. Start researching schools, brainstorming essay ideas, and tackling standardized tests early. Planning ahead saves time and reduces stress later.

Try Something New
Break out of your routine! Explore a new hobby, join a club, volunteer, or make new friends. Stepping outside your comfort zone can lead to exciting opportunities.
Break a Bad Habit
We all have habits we’d be better without. Whether it’s procrastinating, staying up too late, or skipping breakfast, choose one to leave behind this year.
Build Better Study Habits
Good study habits lead to success. Find a productive study environment, review notes regularly, and avoid cramming. Work with your teachers and Zinkerz educators to find what works best for you!
